Madda Studio | Nuno Raya Felted Wool & Silk Lumbar Pillow

Madda Studio is a textile design studio based in Oaxaca, Mexico, known for its handcrafted rugs and textiles that merge traditional Mexican techniques with contemporary design. The studio was co-founded in 2016 by Maddalena Forcella and Marie Farneth, drawing on Forcella’s extensive experience in textile arts and natural dyeing, which began in 1995. Rooted in collaboration with local artisans, Madda Studio focuses on preserving traditional craftsmanship while introducing innovative approaches to color and texture.

The Madda Studio Lumbar Pillow is made of the finest silk carefully combined with felted alpaca and merino wools. The molecular structure of the wool allows the fibers to interlace when manipulated. Blending silk into the process adds lightness and an elegant texture. Once the fleece is felted, the fibers cannot be separated, resulting in a non-woven fabric.
